New app to help with re-start

Deliveroo hopes that the app will make it easier for guests to visit the restaurant and keep their distance from other restaurant guests and staff.

Deliveroo launches the app "Table Service" in the UK. It is designed to help restaurants comply with hygiene regulations. The function is to be available in the UK from 15 July. With the app, customers can browse, order and pay for the menu via mobile phone.

Deliveroo hopes that this service will make it easier for guests to visit the restaurant and to keep their distance from other restaurant guests and staff. All orders received via the new app will not be charged to the restaurants, according to Deliveroo.
The function will not only be available to restaurants, but also to bars, cafés and pubs - in other words, to all businesses that offer table service to their customers.

Broad support package

Will Shu, CEO of Deliveroo, said during the launch of the app: "Deliveroo wants to play a major role in helping restaurants implement technical solutions for a safe re-start. We are committed to developing a broad package of support measures to help the industry recover".

Meanwhile, it was announced that the UK competition authorities have given the green light for Amazon's investment in Deliveroo. Amazon is buying 16 percent of the British company.
