Agreement with restaurant closures
At the end of March 2020 as well as in the middle of May 2020, we asked consumers across six European countries (GB, DE, FR, ES, IT, RU) about whether they agree with restaurant closures due to the coronavirus spreading. At the end of March, 3 out of 4 (74%) European consumers totally agreed with the need to close restaurants. That agreement has gone down dramatically now. In mid-May, only 43% totally agreed with restaurant closures. And whilst in March, mostly Russians and Brits didn’t think it was necessary, now, those are the countries with the highest agreement. By the way, there is no significant difference in the agreement to keeping restaurants closed by how often people eat and drink away from home.
