Weekly Research Bite What motivated consumers to call restaurant services?
Many European consumers called a delivery service in for the first time during the COVID-19 crisis. Throughout the six largest European countries (GB, DE, FR, ES, IT, RU) 31% of all consumers claimed they used Delivery Services, during the crisis, this number grew by 11% points to 42%. But the questions is, what motivated consumers to call restaurant services for their food and beverages rather than preparing something by themselves. Surprisingly it was not for convenience reasons because people didn’t have time since they were working from home. That delivered meal was in the first place a treat for oneself or the family. In second place: the wish to get something special that people couldn’t cook themselves. Third: to order food from one’s favorite restaurant.www.npdgroup.com
