Autogrill is back in the black.

Autogrill's figures are better than expected in the first half of 2022. After a negative operating result of -88.8 million in the first half of 2021, the travel hub experts are back in the black, even exceeding very optimistic forecasts. As a result, the company is revising its assumptions for the full year 2022 upwards.

With sales of 1.761 millon euros, Autogrill was able to increase sales by 78 percent in the first half of 2022. This represents a like-for-like sales growth of 77 percent on existing space.

This means that the pre-crisis level has not yet been reached. In the first half of 2022, Autogrill brought in 83 percent of first-half 2019 sales.

Back to black figures

Adjusted operating profit of €22.5 million is €111 million higher than in the first half of 2021, bringing the company back into profitfrom deep red figures.

The company is
therefore cautiously adjusting its forecasts for the full year 2022 upwards. Instead of total sales of 3.7 billion, 3.8 billion are now expected.

About Autogrill

The Italian vacationer may think of Autogrill primarily in terms of rest stops. In 2021, however, only 39 percent of sales were attributable to freeway service stations, while 55 percent were generated at airports. The most important market for the Italian group here is the USA. Autogrill is considered one of the largest traffic caterers in the world. The company is represented in 30 countries on 4 continents, operates around 3,800 outlets with more than 31,000 employees at around 950 locations and is present in 142 airports. In Germany, Autogrill has over 29 outlets at the four airport locations Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, Stuttgart and Hamburg, as well as at various service areas and the designer outlet Neumünster.
