For the 17th time, the Swiss people's choice award Best of Swiss Gastro (BOSG) has been awarded. With a premiere: Due to the ongoing corona risks, the award night was produced as a pure video show for the first time. But there were also digital highlights: above all the presentation of the coveted Master 2020 to the overall winner Michel Péclard with his "L`O" in Horgen.

However, the Zurich region not only provides the new Master 2020, but also a total of ten winners in six different categories. The strong performance of the companies in Central Switzerland with five winners and in Graubünden and Northwest Switzerland with three winners each is proof of this: Innovative restaurateurs with correspondingly successful concepts can be found in all parts of Switzerland. In addition, Ticino, Eastern Switzerland and the Central Plateau each provided one winner.

The best overall rating and thus the crown as Master 2020 and first place in the Fine Dining category was awarded to the "L`O" in Horgen, Zurich. BOSG's verdict on the "L`O": "The L`O impresses with its perfect adaptation to its beautiful location directly on Lake Zurich. The restaurant has been charmingly renovated in naval style. The lake is included on every square metre. Whole fish, vegetables and meat are prepared on the indoor charcoal grill. The fish come from Lake Zurich or fresh from the sea, linen-caught sea bream, Loup de Mer or Rascasse. Overfished products such as turbot come from sustainable aquacultures."

The first purely digital award show

Until the very last moment BOSG worked on a live performance of the legendary award night. However, the tightened measures taken at the end of October and the high corona numbers made a safe and attractive performance impossible in the end. At short notice, BOSG put together the concept for a 45-minute online award show, which nevertheless generated the deserved attention for the nominated companies. The show, presented by Sven Epiney, features surprise visits to all category winners, tears of joy and lots of emotions.

Best of Swiss Gastro
The Gastro-Awards of Best of Swiss Gastro are the largest Swiss people's choice awards and the only award in Swiss gastronomy. Since 2004, the best gastronomy businesses have been awarded every year. Businesses can apply for the award themselves. The application will be examined and approved or rejected by Best of Swiss Gastro. An initial assessment is made by a specialist jury - consisting of around 40 independent industry experts, restaurateurs, journalists and former winners - based on the application. In addition, guest ratings and number of guests are also taken into account in a period from August to October.
