In a recently posted tweet, Burger King UK calls on its fans to order from McDonald's, Subway, KFC and other chains.

Unusual times require unusual measures. "We never thought we'd be asking you to do this," says Burger King UK's Twitter post published on Monday, "but restaurants employing thousands of staff really need your support at the moment."

The call to also support the competition (or rather "sister food chains") with delivery, take-away or drive-thru orders comes against the backdrop of the imminent nationwide lockdown announced by Prime Minister Boris Johnson. The strict regulations include the closure of all pubs, bars and restaurants from 5 November.

The response to the tweet is consistently positive. Besides currently over 122.000 Likes and more than 28.800 Retweets, fans of various other chains also support the call in their comments, which ends with the following sentence:

"Getting a Whopper is always best, but ordering a Big Mac is also not such a bad thing."
