Mövenpick has opened its sixth hotel in Switzerland. The architects Miller & Maranta are responsible for the construction of the sustainably designed Mövenpick Hotel Basel. The interior design comes from the pen of internationally renowned designer Matteo Thun. The hotel is part of the new Baloise Park directly adjacent to Basel's SBB railway station.
Basel architects Miller & Maranta were responsible for the construction of the entire Mövenpick Hotel Basel, which has 234 rooms and 30 suites - including 20 junior suites, nine suites and a presidential suite. The interior bears the signature of designer Matteo Thun, who worked closely with Miller & Maranta on the design of the 19-storey hotel. In keeping with the motto "Timeless Modern", warm colours and natural materials underline the style mix of elegant Swiss simplicity and timeless comfort.
The heart of the Mövenpick brand has always been its gastronomy concept, which is characterised by international influences at the Mövenpick Hotel Basel. The Puro restaurant with show kitchen combines Latin American specialities with the traditional flavours of Asia and regional products in an informal ambience. The Argentinean Pablo Löhle is responsible as Executive Chef. On the ground floor of the hotel, MP's Bistro & Bar serves as a meeting place for locals and hotel guests.
In addition, the hotel has a comprehensive mice offering. For example, the conference center holds a total area of 2,000 square meters, which can be used flexibly. The ballroom with a room height of five meters allows festivities with up to 600 guests. The Mövenpick Hotel Basel also has a spa and fitness area covering 240 square metres. This includes a sauna, a steam bath, experience showers and a relaxation zone.
Developed by the Baloise Group as one of the country's largest insurance service providers, the new hotel in Basel will be managed by the Berlin-based HR Group as a franchisee under the Mövenpick flag.
