The Wiesner Gastronomie (FWG) family has opened its own Ghost Kitchen in Bern. With the virtual market hall Kitchen Republic, the brand gastronome wants to stand up to the internationally operating delivery providers.

According to the FWG release, Kitchen Republic is the first virtual market hall in Switzerland. Menus are cooked in a Ghost Kitchen. The latest Kitchen Republic opened on Viktoriaplatz in Bern. Orders can be put together from six different food brands. Bern is the fourth location after Zurich-West, Basel and Uster.

The concept of virtual food halls originated in the USA and, according to FWG, is spreading across the country this year. In the Swiss version "Kitchen Republic", depending on the city, there is sushi from Negishi Sushi Bar, Asian from Nooch Asian Kitchen, burgers from The Butcher, Poke Bowls from Poke Nation, Korean Fried Chicken from Angry Chicken and dumplings from The Dumpling Brothers.

Kitchen Republic is part of the Wiesner Gastronomie AG family, which has been operating restaurants in German-speaking Switzerland since the 1990s. In the first Lockdown 2020, the family business added three Ghostkitchen to their locations. In addition to its well-known restaurants, FWG also operates online-only brands such as Poke Nation and Angry Chicken for takeaway and delivery orders.
