Gastro expert Annette Mützel is looking forward to returning to the restaurant. In the meantime, she uses the delivery and pick-up offers of her hometown Wiesbaden. What she particularly likes about the chosen top 5, she reports here.
As founder and managing director of the gastronomy consultancy foodservice solutions, Annette Mützel assists restaurateurs and suppliers in all matters relating to brand development and concept positioning. For her, gastronomy is not just a profession, but a passion. Like many, she went from being a restaurant visitor to a delivery user during the pandemic. FOOD SERVICE she reveals her 5 top tips for ordering food in Wiesbaden.
"I have always been on the road in my life, never liked to cook. Getting to know new restaurants, bistros and pubs is (and remains) my passion - and not only from a professional point of view," confesses Annette Mützel. "During Corona, I suddenly got interested in cooking and started doing it. But after 12 months I just didn't feel like it anymore ... just too much work."
And so the gastronomy expert tested what
her hometown of Wiesbaden
had to offer
. "Unusual situations require unusual ideas - the goal of operational excellence, quality, safety and service
also applies to the delivery and pick-up service
," says Mützel. In individual gastronomy, there are simple and original solutions according to my motto "The time of possibilities is not over".
Exotic food paired with German wine. This also works in your own four walls - with professional support from Riesling in the Hindu Kush.
Already on the website, the "Lockdown Menu" is easy to find
. Massi Namet's small, fine "restaurant and bar" (huge gin selection) in the Westend-Kiez combines two worlds: a varied cuisine with Afghan and Indian specialties from the Hindu Kush and
the finest German wines from young, wild
vintners. Mama Fauzia Namet is responsible for the cuisine. The former journalist and enthusiastic cook conjures up a varied, constantly changing menu
with fresh ingredients, oriental spices and herbs. These taste explosions are now also available for home, how nice! The dishes are decorated with love, fresh spices and herbs and are delivered by their own team
At the Kapellchen you trust your guests. At the emergency stand guests can help themselves to wine, the food for home is served on china. Returns? "Whenever it suits!"
On the website, the delivery and pickup service isn't obvious. But Robert Hoffmann and Marc Zenglein's motto of "Just a good cook, a good place, and a good host" works even during the pandemic. A regional, down-to-earth cuisine, supplied by Bio-Naturland-Gut Marienborn and Franz Keller's Falkenhof. The big surprise
: The food
is served on china
and handed over in a basket with the words "Just bring the dishes over when it suits you". Now that's trust
! Delivery service
is also available on request - and the boss takes care of it personally
! Great class! Another extra service: At the entrance of his location Grorother Hof there is the famous"Not-Stand
" all year round: a wine self-service stand from Weingut Ott with self-pay
. Once again the principle of trust!
Austrian delicacies and Spanish tapas reach Sherry & Port guests contact-free via a drive-in ramp.
For more than 40 years, the Royko family has been running this eternally young pub. A cool hangout with lots and good live music. Daughter Larissa and son Boris have taken over and are guarantors for further success. With fresh ideas - even in times of pandemic. If you patiently scroll down a bit on the website, you will find the "Sherry Futterlogistik-Food for Friends
", with pictorial explanation. Very original, well organized and an eye-catcher
is the own Sherry "food ramp"
at the pick-up service. A so-called ramp drive-in. The delivery of the carrier bag with a personal card greeting
directly into the car is also possible. The mix of Austrian classics and Spanish tapas
is exceptional and exceptionally good! The Roykos work with the ordering platform of Lieferando and have their own delivery service.
The Burger is Annette Mützel's first choice in Wiesbaden when it comes to burgers.
Since 2014 there is this burger place in Wiesbaden's old town with best quality from Aaron Bühler. Pick-up & delivery are not obvious on the website. A small, fine menu. The food is prepared fresh daily,
uses regional products
and is free of flavor enhancers and preservatives. The burger tastes great: nice and fluffy, super juicy and fresh! This culinary highlight of "das! Burger" is and remains number one in terms of taste - and that also in the pick-up! Recently, there has been an e-bike fleet for the inner-city delivery service
Wirtshaus Weihenstephan in Wiesbaden provides its guests in the lockdown with frozen stews and goulash on the street.
The Weihenstephan restaurant is a well-known pub with a true Bavarian tradition. No clear information on the website; so an insider tip
, so to speak. Under the term "Wiener Goulaschbeiserl" one finds the reference and classical term"street sale"
. The offer from Weihenstephan: stews and goulash - deep-frozen for home
. The top quality speaks for the former and first TV chef of Germany, the Wiesbaden top gastronome Bruno Henrich
. The chef delivers his traditional food personally
, a perfect customer care in these times.
Annette Mützel's conclusion
In the individual gastronomy there are good, simple and original solutions. The overall package also counts for pick-up and delivery. Several factors have caught my eye positively:
A special highlight in terms of customer care and brand: When the restaurateur hands over the order himself or even rings the doorbell and wishes bon appétit.
Sustainability and environmental awareness: pick-up and delivery adds an extra mountain of packaging waste. There are already good, new recyclable solutions made of wood and paper. When it comes to mobility, it's not just the big players who are relying on e-bikes and e-scooters.
Communication and assortment: On the website, immediate visibility and a focus on delivery service is important. Here the little ones can learn from the big ones. Extra button, linking on social media. Often a small, manageable range is enough, not every product is suitable for delivery.
Motivation: For guests, ordering food is convenient and brings variety to the menu. The restaurateur and team can keep their business open in this way and maintain contact with the guests.
One thing is for sure: Pick-up & Delivery will stay after the pandemic -
but I'm really looking forward to seeing the many great hosts, colleagues and friends again in the wonderful cafés, bistros, restaurants, pubs. And please as soon as possible!
