KFC has opened a restaurant in Moscow where guests have as little contact as possible with people and surfaces in the interior.
Contactless and fully automated, the Russian pilot store of KFC has been running since June 2020. According to KFC, the concept of the futuristic unit in Moscow is to minimize contact indoors. All processes related to guest service are automated here. Orders are accepted exclusively via digital kiosks.
To simplify and accelerate the process, KFC
has implemented a biometric identification system
in all devices. It converts the photo of a face into an individual digital code
. After a one-time registration, the guest does not need to use a card or mobile phone to pay for the order on subsequent visits.
Accelerated ordering process
The ordering process itself is also accelerated by the system remembering items from previous orders
and suggesting them to the guest. Face recognition is to be voluntary - the guest can still place an order without digital registration.
