The brand Mia & Noa combines the big trends of the moment: Coffee to go without any contact when ordering and serving - and despite to-go completely without waste. In an interview, founder Maren Knief Clerc tells us how "radically consistent" can work.

What is special about Mia & Noa?
Maren Knief Clerc: Our coffee experience is both completely waste-free and contact-free. This makes us the first brand to completely eliminate disposables and rely on customers to bring their own cup. True to our motto: You bring the Cup, we bring the Coffee.
Quality comes first for us, though. It's important to us that we use only the very best raw materials, offer excellent coffee and milk foam quality, top design, hygiene and convenience.
When did the first unit go on sale?
In July 2020, we opened our pilot location at Chêne-Bourg station in Geneva. What makes it special is that it's a brand new station on a new commuter route. So it was interesting for us to accompany the customer in changing their own consumption behaviour and also to offer them a whole new way of consuming coffee at the same time with the new local transport options.
How many Mia & Noa locations are there currently?
We currently have two coffee bars, and will have four by the end of May 2021. The goal is to test and compare different types of locations during this development phase. In doing so, it is important for us to understand where our customers particularly appreciate the added value of our offer and where they already bring their cup every day.
