The Luxury Collection Hotels & Resorts announces the opening of Santo Mauro, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Madrid, marking its debut in the Spanish capital.

The historic building, whose history dates back to the 18th century, is located in the traditional, aristocratic Chamberí district and once served as the residence of the Duke of Santo Mauro. Today, adorned with elegant furniture and artwork, the fully renovated hotel houses 49 rooms, including ten suites with exclusive balconies overlooking the hotel gardens. Overnight stays are available from 600 euros per room, including breakfast.

The hotel consists of three buildings surrounded by gardens with centuries-old chestnut trees. Therooms, public areas, restaurants and gardens have been carefully renovated. The renowned interior designer Lorenzo Castillo is responsible for the redesign of the luxury hotel.

The guest rooms have been redesigned using natural materials such as stone, marble and wood. Furnishings of upholstered leather, midnight blue velvet and silk give the renovated palace a modern yet elegant feel. A color palette of neutral earth tones balances traditional warmth with a modern touch in the palatial rooms and suites.

Inspired by the history of the hotel

Influenced by its turbulent history, the hotel's interior design is reminiscent of an 18th-century Spanish noble house, where different design styles often clashed. The transition between eras is fluid; from the Georgian-English library with its warm oak shelving and bright green and gold velvet fabrics, to the oriental influences in The Chinese Lounge with wall coverings and fabrics in a wide variety of chinoiserie patterns. Sophisticated furniture painted in shades of black and gold and portraits from the Qing Dynasty adorn the walls throughout the hotel.

The culinary concept is under the direction of renowned chef Rafael Peña, who is known for his popular Gresca restaurant in Barcelona.

"Travelers are increasingly looking for meaningful, unique experiences that connect them to the heart of the locals when traveling to cities, and Santo Mauro, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Madrid takes our guests on a journey back in time to the 18th century, topped off with modern amenities and impeccable service," said Candice D'Cruz, Vice President - Luxury Brands, Europe, Middle East & Africa, Marriott International.

The culinary concept is under the direction of renowned chef Rafael Peña, who has honed his skills in some of the world's finest cuisines and is known for his popular Gresca restaurant in Barcelona. For La Biblioteca and El Jardin restaurants, Rafael Peña created menus inspired by the menus of noble houses - including exciting tasting menus - and special versions of the late breakfast and afternoon snack 'La Merienda' so popular in Spain. As the name suggests, guests dine at La Biblioteca surrounded by precious books and antiques.

For a more casual culinary experience, guests and locals alike can enjoy El Jardin, the hotel's garden, on the new outdoor terrace. For after-dinner drinks, El Bar provides a selection of cocktails and snacks.

The Santo Mauro, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Madrid also offers an indoor pool. A new spa and fitness area will open as part of the second phase of renovations, scheduled to begin in summer 2022. Seven meeting and event spaces are available for events. An outdoor event space will also be added to the hotel's offerings in summer 2022.
