Since 1 September 2021, the NH Collection brand has been welcoming guests to Scandinavia with a 5-star property in the Danish capital.
Like all hotels of the premium brand of the NH Hotel Group, the NH Collection Copenhagen is characterized by a central location and its design is inspired by the immediate surroundings. The hotel is located in an architectural landmark in the lively Christianshavn district, just off Knippelsbro Bridge. Upon entering the hotel, guests look out over the harbour and the rooftops of Copenhagen.
In the lobby with its spacious lounge area, the view falls directly on a work of art by Danish artist Anna Bak, which is a reminder of the building's shipbuilding past. 394 rooms and suites, two restaurants and the hotel bar are unmistakably designed in Nordic style. Danish craftsmanship blends with high-quality materials such as wood, brass and fabrics in warm tones. Typical Scandinavian details such as herringbone tiles, elegant furniture and natural light create a feel-good atmosphere. Accommodation prices start at 199 euros for two people in a superior room.
The day starts in the light-flooded breakfast room with a view of the hustle and bustle outside. In the evening, the Tablafina restaurant offers a combination of the Spanish tapas concept with local ingredients. The hotel's own sommelier recommends the right wine accompaniment. The NH Collection Copenhagen also offers direct access to the waterways of Christianshavn, a fitness area, a relaxation room and bicycle hire. Seven flexible meeting rooms can accommodate up to 252 people.
The building, which is well known to Copenhageners, was designed by architect Palle Suenson in the late 1950s as the modernist headquarters of a shipbuilding company. Today, the clean shapes and straight lines of the listed building are reminiscent of the architectural era and the city's shipbuilding history.
The final touches were added to the design by the Spanish interior design firm TBC, which has already furnished many other hotels in the NH Collection, including the NH Collection München Bavaria. The façade of the venerable building was thoroughly renovated and redesigned by ATP Ejendomme, Arkitema Architexts and Henning Larsen. The original design by architect Palle Suenson was retained.
The NH Collection Copenhagen hotel has high sustainability standards. Stones from the interior demolition found a secondary use in the new façade. This is further demonstrated by the green sedum roof, the use of seawater to cool the building, the intelligent control of lighting and indoor climate, and the general choice of ecological materials.
NH Collection is the premium brand of the NH Hotel Group, which is thus represented at locations in Europe and Latin America. Originally from Spain, NH Hotel Group is now a multinational company with around 350 hotels and 55,000 rooms. Since 2019, NH Hotel Group has been working with Asian group Minor Hotels to integrate its hotel brands under a single umbrella brand with a presence in over 50 countries worldwide. The combined portfolio of over 500 hotels is divided into eight brands: NH Hotels, NH Collection, nhow, Tivoli, Anantara, Avani, Elewana and Oaks.
