The industry is expected to lose anywhere from $250 billion to almost $300 billion in sales this year compared to 2019.

Technomic has revised its 2020 foodservice industry sales forecast to account for the prolonged disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. Forecasting information is presented using three scenarios: Best Case, Middle Case and Worst Case. 

On a percentage basis, annual foodservice industry sales are forecasted to decline in the range of 24% to 29% in 2020.

Depending on the scenario, the industry is expected to lose anywhere from US$250 billion to almost US$300 billion in sales this year compared to 2019. 

Quick service is among the segments performing the best, while full-service restaurants, bars, business and industry, travel and leisure, and education are struggling.
