The industry’s largest pizza and chicken chains posted strong results in the second quarter, standing out as a bright spot in a challenging operational environment. Insights from Technomic’s market researchers.

Across the board, this group of chains continues to benefit from established and streamlined delivery operations, as well as core menu items that are easily transportable.

Papa John’s took the biggest step forward, jumping from 5.3 percent same-store sales growth in the first quarter to 28.0 percent in the second quarter.

KFC and Pizza Hut also made notable progress by shifting their quarterly same-store sales performances from negative to positive.
