Veggie buffet concept cooks for vending professionals

The Swiss vegan-vegetarian buffet concept Tibits is breaking new ground in the pandemic and will be cooking for Felfel in cooperation in the future. The company runs smart fridges with daily fresh food in more than 500 Swiss offices. It is not Tibits' first experience with communal catering: in Darmstadt, Hesse, Tibits opened its first unit in Germany in 2019 on the campus of organic food retailer Alnatura - as a hybrid between a company and public restaurant.

According to Tibits, the idea for the collaboration with Felfel was born in December 2020, when all restaurants in Switzerland had to close. Since April 12, 2021, five new Tibits-typical bowls such as the tibits Classic Bowl with sweet potatoes, dried beans and hummus or a Red Thai Curry with shiitake mushrooms and fresh vegetables are now available in the smart Felfel refrigerators. The bowls were created exclusively for the partnership and will be adjusted seasonally.

Felfel vision: rid offices of average food

The long-term cooperation aims to bring more vegetables and freshness into the offices. "The goal was simple: to bring the Tibits buffet feeling into the office, and with really lots of vegetables," says Felfel food scout Michi. More dishes are already in development.

Founded in 2014, the company says it is driven by a "vision to rid offices of average food." The company's smart fridges are now in more than 500 businesses across Switzerland. The meals on offer are prepared fresh daily by more than ten different local partner chefs. When sourcing ingredients, Felfel relies on sustainable and regional suppliers.

Prices for lunch dishes range from 5 to 12 Swiss francs, depending on size. Dishes can be paid for via app, credit card or lunch checks, among other methods. For companies, Felfel offers an all-round package, including fridge installation, filling, maintenance, customer service and even recycling of the food containers. What is due is an individually agreed service flat rate. Felfel is represented in Switzerland and Liechtenstein in companies of different sizes, for example at Bayer or Swissport.

Tibits stands for vegetarian and vegan cuisine. Since 2000, the family business of brothers Christian, Daniel and Reto Frei and Rolf Hiltl has been offering its guests a selection of over 40 freshly prepared dishes from morning to evening. At the heart of every Tibits restaurant is a buffet with salads, hot dishes and desserts. Tibits restaurants are sometimes found in Basel, Bern, London, Winterthur, Zurich, Lucerne, St. Gallen, Lausanne and now Darmstadt.
