In Germany, pinsa, a more traditional form of pizza, is soon to replace the classic pizza at Vapiano - at the instigation of German master franchisee Delf Neumann of the Gastro & Soul Group. But the news led to confusion in neighboring Austria. The Vapiano operator there, the Don Group, clarifies: In Austria, pizzas will remain on the menu and the offer will even be expanded.

"We will not take the unofficial favorite dish of the Austrians off our menu. On the contrary: we have recently expanded our range of vegetarian pizzas and also put old classics back on the menu. When it comes to pizza dough, we are constantly working on innovative products and only recently offered a carrot dough pizza during our last specials. Our pizza is here to stay", Josef Donhauser, Managing Director of the Don Group, lets us know.

Guests in Austria can continue to choose from 19 pizzas and put them together themselves. Guests can choose from three types of dough (classic, multigrain or gluten-free), toppings (meat, fish, vegetarian or vegan) and extras. The offer has recently been expanded with Mini Pizza Panini.
About the Don Group
With around 1,800 employees (before the pandemic), the Don Group is, according to its own information, Austria's largest privately run catering company. Since 1992, Josef Donhauser's group has been operating restaurants, cafés, bars and catering services. The Austrian Vapianos have been part of the Don Group since last year.
